Gill Partington’s research addresses changing engagements with the material page, through the history of reading and print culture, book destruction, theories of media, and concepts of fictionality. She is a member of Birkbeck’s Material Texts Network and has co-convened the following network symposia: On Paper (2010); Book Destruction (2011); Missing Texts (2012); The Humument (2013); and Perversions of Paper (2014).
She has also co-edited a special issue of the journal Critical Quarterly (2013) on Missing Text and a collection entitled Book Destruction in the West (Palgrave 2014). She is currently completing a study entitled: Taking it Literally: Literary Fiction in the Twentieth Century and Beyond.
